Urban Landscape and Public Space

The Ibagué Skatepark project proposes the renovation and revitalization of an existing recreational space located between Carreras 6 and 7 and Calles 11 and 12 in Ibagué, Colombia. Despite its established infrastructure, the park faces challenges related to limited public use, inadequate lighting, safety concerns, and a lack of complementary facilities. The proposal incorporates tactical urbanism strategies, vibrant urban furniture, expanded green spaces, rest areas, and low-impact commercial activities to enhance the park's functionality and appeal. Dedicated areas for children's skateboarding, BMX, and scooters are integrated alongside a cycling path, bicycle parking facilities, picnic areas, and a children's playground. The design aims to improve safety, promote urban culture, strengthen the local skateboarding community, and transform the park into an inclusive, vibrant, and accessible public space that encourages social interaction and strengthens its connection to the surrounding urban fabric.
